Praise You in this Storm

Banter here!

We have been through one and a half weeks of campers now.  We have dealt with what seemed to be  a minor pandemic of a flu-like sickness.  Shelley was sick on Monday before breakfast.  Monday happens to be the day that campers arrive here at Victory.  She was out of commission until tuesday afternoon.  I then proceeded to get sick but didn't go down until Wednesday morning at 11am and then came back Thursday morning at 11am. Ugh!  Our staff was amazing through it all and made the best of it. The devil is trying extra hard to keep us from doing God's ministry this summer but God keeps on showing up as the stronger one in this spiritual battle!!

Bandage has been through a lot lately with her nursing licensing.  She needs to have an Alaskan license to practice here and therefore has had to jump through many painful hoops to get that done.  On top of all that, she has gotten sick twice and has been out of commission twice.  Ugh, Ugh!  Luckily she was sick the same time as me on Wednesday and Thursday so we got to spend a sick day together.  We have decided to get sick together from here on out!

WE have many decisions that will affect our plans this fall and need a lot of wisdom and prayer to help guide us through them.  Please keep on praying, as we can feel the power of prayer and God's Spirit holding us up through difficult times.

We have seen more than 5 decisions for Christ in this week and a half!  I was able to share with the Frontier staff how cool it is to be a part of a campers decision process.  It is crazy to think that the things that amaze us such as; atoms, mountains, weather, sunsets, the body healing, music, and many others; are no big deal to God.  He enjoys them and enjoyed creating them, but nothing like that gets God and the heavenly hosts jumping out of their chairs like a choice for Him.  I can imagine Jesus sitting on the edge of His throne as that conversation between a counselor and camper turns the campers heart closer to a decision to Him. I can imagine Him leaving tears welling up in His eyes, not willing to wipe them away as to not miss a moment of that campers thought process.  I can imagine Him leaping from his throne at the point of conversion and all the angels join in the celebration and there is hugging and tears of joy for another one of us who has chosen Christ over Death.

I obviously get pretty ecstatic about what God gets Joy from.  Joy. The second Fruit of the Spirit. The topic of this next weeks Frontier staff meetings...cool.

(Bandage here,
Speaking of Joy, This was a very challenging last week and a half! As Steve said, I have faced many unique challenges that others have not had to go through. It has been hard to be happy about all the bad and unexpected things that happen in life, but God has shown me what real Joy is. Joy is not like happiness. It is not circumstancial. I have everlasting joy in Jesus because He has saved me! Nothing that could ever happen in my life should distract me from this simple TRUTH- which is our theme for the summer.)

Thanks for your prayers and you support along our journey!
Tata for now!

Victories at Victory bible camp.

Steve here,
We are here at Victory! The days are long, and I mean 24 hrs of sunlight long! It is great being here and settling in the groove. We have had a couple days of pre-orientation where we have been scheduling camps. Shelley and I have finished our schedule for the weekly summer activities, and now we are waiting for real orientation to start so we can hit the ground running! Rachel got set up in her sweet nurses station today. She is looking pretty legitimate as she is actually the only nurse on camp, but luckily the are a few nurses at camp as well as a couple EMT's/paramedics. Rachel reports to a paramedic named Matt Sherrer who is excellent and very good at allowing Rachel to take charge of her "Healthy Center". She gets her own nurse vehicle and office.
Life is going great here in Alaska, and we are able to text via wifi, as well as call on our iPad. So if you see a call from a very weird number that may be us ringing for you!

And Rachel and I have made our camp names.
Rachel: Nurse Patella
Steve: Banter

Majority vote changed my name...

Sleepless in Seattle...

Hey everyone! Just thought that I'd give a quick update! We are sitting in one of the many Starbucks in Seattle, Washington! We arrived here at 9am pacific time, which is 11am central time. We have been awake for 12hrs now and it's only 1:30 pm here! Talk about jet lag? We visited Pikes market place. We are soooooo tired. The past hour, we have just been sitting in here silent absorbing some sanity. We chose this 14 hr lay over in Seattle, WA in order to see the place but now, we are kinda regretting how long this is! We are probly going to head back to the Sea/Tac int'l airport around 5ish....our flight doesnt leave till 10pm. UGH!!!! But we will be seeing Miss Kelly Anderson tonight in Anchorage early early tomorrow morning. Keep us in your prayers as we are not yet done with our travels for the day. Great to have some followers and great supporters for us!
Gods love and peace to you this Sunday!

Ps. We have met some locals that were very helpful in our endeavors! And I may be readdicted to Twilight from seeing this place!

A well deserved break.

Steve here!

Today marked the first day of rest in a while. Since Thursday last week all three of us have been going like crazy! Thursday was spent prepping the garage sale all day long, which included cleaning Brett's garage and sorting the sale items. Friday morning was filled with repairing garage sale signs and baking banana bread. We were there from 8 am and didn't leave until 8 pm. There was a little break when my dad, Calvin, took Rachel and I out for supper and a good chat. Saturday Rachel stayed home and started packing up our apartment while Shelley and I handled the garage sale all day. Rachel was blessed with help from a few friends and some family members in the process of packing. Meanwhile the the garage sale raised over $500 for our travel expenses! Thanks again to all who donated items and money. Sunday we had the in laws come down to help us move into our storage facility and Shelley headed down home for the week. After a long day of packing we made it home in Roseau at 11:00 pm. Monday evening we returned to Bemidji, and stayed with the wonderful Nyegaard family, for a dentist appointment on Tuesday morning. Rachel had a teeth cleaning and I filmed a music video for Sir Avery.(which I just finished editing). Hope they like it when I show it to them on Friday for their concert with Jenny&Tyler in Brainerd!!! Now it is off to bed after painting the malung school all day.

Goodnight all, and we leave from the lower forty-eight in four days!!! Keep us in your prayers!

Changes have been made

Hey everybody! I have made a couple of changes to my settings that will now allow anyone to post on my blog! I didn't realize that I could change that! So pleaseeeeee send me some feedback of your thoughts and prayers for Steve and I as we prepare for our journey to Alaska!

Also, Steve will be blogging on this site too so I am figuring out how to make sure that you know it is him blogging and not me. Thanks for you continued support and patience!

God bless you all this day!

Welcome!!

Welcome to my blog! Thanks for visiting this site! This is the place to learn about Steve and my up and coming adventures in Alaska this summer! God has called us to serve him WAY up north at a place called Victory Bible Camp.

We have always wanted to work at a Bible camp for a summer, but the time had never been just right. Well now is the time. Steve and I have been married for almost 3 years and we have been waiting to start a family until we are finished with college. Guess what! I'm graduating May 4th, 2012 with my Associate Degree in Registered Nursing! AHHHH!

So that means that this summer is the time to be wild and crazy because its probably going to be the last summer without little Lindstroms running around! I may have gotten carried away in my very first post, but I just had to update you on my life! Here you go! God Bless You this very day!
